Disraeli's supposed first glimpse of the Queen is based on a famous Victorian painting entitled "Victoria Greeted as Queen".

Plans to film a separate version of the film for American audiences were cancelled when Warner Bros. were so pleased with the film made for British audiences. It was simply edited for the USA release.

The three Sheridan sisters (Glynis Johns, Andrea Troubridge and Margaret Johnston) do not appear in the American released print (as shown on the Turner Classic Movies channel). Perhaps they are in the British version which ran 15-20 minutes longer..



This film had its U. S. television premiere on Turner Classic Movies on 24 September 2007 during TCM's festival of films made by Warner Brothers at Teddington Studios in the UK.
