Daughter is Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Bard College professor, Liz Frank.
In 1974, he accepted the Oscar for "Best Actress in a Leading Role" on behalf of Glenda Jackson, who wasn't present at the awards ceremony. Frank directed Jackson in A Touch of Class (1973)
