After her success in Hollywood, Mexican screen siren Dolores Del Rio returned to Mexico to help usher in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. In La otra (1946), she stars as twin sisters, one a wealthy man-eating housewife, the other a dowdy manicurist. But when jealousy turns to murder, family secrets are revealed. Filmmaker Roberto Galvad?n partnered with writer Jos? Revueltas to create this Mexican take on a classic noir trope: the evil twin. The film was so successful it was later remade in the United States as DEAD RINGER (1964), starring Bette Davis. In Spanish with English subtitles.
