SYNOPSIS
Major Joppolo is charged with the task of reestablishing order in a small Italian village after WWII. As he helps restore the community's civic administration, Joppolo falls in love with a local girl. He also manages to prevent the lynching of the town's former major, who had lent his support to Mussolini, and - most important - to restore the town's beloved church bell, stolen during the war.
