At one time, Frank Sinatra wanted to pursue a relationship with Katy Jurado but she offered him to be friends instead.

First Mexican actress to be nominated for an Academy Award. The second was Salma Hayek, in 2003.

Former husband Ernest Borgnine referred to her as "beautiful, but a tiger."

Gained 22 pounds in 22 days to play the part of Annie Lightcloud in Stay Away, Joe (1968). Days before filming, she broke her foot and removed the cast prematurely, which explains her limp throughout the movie.

Katy Jurado and Maria Felix had a civil relationship.

While filming Barrio De Campeones in 1981, Jurado received word that her son Victor Hugo had been killed in an auto accident in Montemorelos, Nuevo León.
