After his acting career ended in the early 1940s, he became an assembler for North American Aviation, a division of Rockwell International.
Vacationing with his father in Los Angeles when that same afternoon he was immediately put to work on a picture called A Tough Winter when Charley Parrott( later known as Charley Chase) installed him with Our Gang (since he was the supervising director for Our Gang).
Was 5 years old when his father sent him to audition for producer Hal Roach's comedy series that became "Our Gang."
