Before we move on to the Contest, I just want to say that I had the pleasure of seeing this film on The Big Screen at Capitolfest earlier this year, and it is a gem! About the Release: Almost 15 years after the release of its first publication, Flicker Alley, in partnership with the Blackhawk Films® Collection, is proud to celebrate 50 fully-published titles with the Blu-ray/DVD world premiere of Children of Divorce, starring Clara Bow and Gary Cooper. The film begins in an American “divorce colony” in Paris after the First World War, where parents would leave their children for months at a time. Jean, Kitty, and Ted meet there as children and become fast friends. Years later, in America, when wealthy Ted (Gary Cooper) reconnects with Jean (Esther Ralston), the two fall deeply in love, vowing to fulfill a childhood promise to one day marry each other. But true love and the most innocent of plans are no match for the scheming Kitty—played by the original Hollywood “It” girl, Clara Bow—who targets Ted for his fortune. After a night of drunken revelry, Ted wakes up to find he has unwittingly married Kitty. This unfortunate turn of events, however, carries with it the traumatized pasts of the three players, whose views of marriage have been shaped as children of divorce. Sourced from the original nitrate negative held by the Library of Congress, as well as their 1969 fine grain master, this new restoration of Children of Divorce was scanned in 4K resolution, and represents over 200 hours of laboratory work by the Library of Congress in order to create the best version possible. Though some deterioration remains, this is the first time the film has ever been released on home video, allowing audiences to enjoy a rare viewing of classic performances from two of early cinema’s most recognizable stars. Flicker Alley is delighted to reach the milestone of its 50th publication with Children of Divorce. This Blu-ray/DVD dual-format edition features a new score by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, and was made possible thanks to the Blackhawk Films® Collection, Paramount Pictures, and the Library of Congress.

  2. Gordon Miller says:

I would like to win because I have yet to see it.

I would feel honored to win this because I am a silent film fan but have never seen Children of Divorce before. I have never won a Blu-ray before, so I am feeling lucky today! This is one of my favourite movies, but is, unfortunately, difficult to obtain on DVD/Blu-ray online, so it would be very nice to receive a copy, and would be a great Christmas gift (to myself, that is) 🙂

Because I’ve just watched the whole Kevin Brownlow series HOLLYWOOD and was bewitched by the image of Clara Bow on the opening credits. I would love to see her acting in a full length movie – like so many other greats, she seems to have something intangible and special.

clara bow is a classic silent film actress and i would love to see her in this movie. it seems like an early classic movie that every movie buff would love. it amazes me that the library of congress took over 200 hours to restore this movie back to what it was. thats impressive!

  17. Shelia says:

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.
Wow…can’t say that I’ve even heard of this movie, but from the synopsis it fits the bill of why I like old movies…they actually have a good story without relying on tech tricks. Also, quite often they carried social or moral messages of the time, and some were just pure comic relief from the daily grind. Since I’ve never seen it, this would be great!
Thanks for the always great giveaways and education.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Honestly, I hadn’t heard of it either, until I saw it at a film festival… and I really did enjoy it! Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  18. Heather Clarke says:

I have always loved Clara Bow, and it’s so exciting that this is now available! I love silent movies- the thought that I’m watching something 90 years old is nothing short of magical!

  20. Christine Ewerdt says:

Take me back to a simpler time, when movies and radio were the sole entertainment forms of society. Take me away from fake news and the Internet.

“Who the hell wants to hear actors talk?”asked Harry Warner in 1927? Not I! Take me back to the silent era….if only for a few hours.

  21. I love the elegance and beauty of silent films. I need this dvd to have more of it!!!

  22. Amit Gupta says:

Silent cinema is timeless and special. All the drama unfolds in front of the audience raw, without any extraneous influence from computers or sound effects. It is pure cinema, as it was always intended to be.

I have been waiting for Children of Divorce for years! Years! Gary Cooper is incredibly important to me. 33. Laura says:

I just saw my first Clara Bow film, GET YOUR MAN, at the Academy earlier this year. It was delightful, and I’d really like to see more of her movies! Best wishes,
    Laura

Haven’t seen ‘Get Your Man’ yet, but I did see Children of Divorce at Capitolfest and throughly enjoyed it!

Hope all is well and that you enjoy the Holidays 🙂

  34. Amarillys Romero says:

Well, I have been a classic film fan for quite a few years, but silent films never really appealed to me until recently. I wanted to try something new, and I am loving it! Clara Bow is my favorite silent film actress so far, with Janet Gaynor a close second. So, I would love to own one of her films! Plus, I wouldn’t want to miss out on a young Gary Cooper! I would love to add this to my little film collection, it would be the first silent classic! I would be so grateful, this is an opportunity I cannot miss out on.

  35. Brie Edwards says:

Clara Bow is one of my favorite silent actresses ever since I saw her in “Wings.”

  39. Kevyn says:

I would like to win this movie because I have not seen it yet. I am a fan of Clara and Coop, but haven’t seen many of Clara’s films so it would be nice to add this to my collection.

    Good luck to everyone!

  40. Kim Dalious says:

So I can watch Coop 24/7!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Kim, I don’t see your tweet yet. Please don’t forget to tweet, or comment back here that you don’t have a twitter. Thanks!

  41. Macy Veto says:

I would absolutely love to win this DVD, because now that this rare gem is available to the public, I can’t wait to see it! The gorgeous Clara Bow, & dapper Gary Cooper are two of my favorites, and I can’t wait to see them on the screen together! <3

  42. heather clarke says:

I would SO love this! I’ve been a Clara Bow lover since high school, and that’s a heck of a long time ago!! It would be neat to win.

  43. David H. says:

I would really love this because it seems like a lost gem that deserves to be rediscovered. Clara Bow was so lovable and sympathetic in every movie she ever made, so it would be nice to see her in this film. Seeing Gary Cooper starting out in silent cinema doesn’t sound so bad either.

  44. Lilly says:

I am a big fan of Gary Cooper, and not too familiar with his work early on his career so it would be a great opportunity to see him act in this movie. Also, I think the chances of me seeing this movie ever unless I owned it is pretty rare, therefore hopefully if I am so lucky to win it, this will be my chance! 🙂

  45. GARTH SMITH says:

To be honest, I’m a secret classic movie fan for over many years. I watch TCM most days. I own very few classic movies on blu-ray and would like to own this one.

  46. Kelly Oconnor says:

Seeing a Gary Cooper I have not seen
