Amy Veness was a fair-haired, pleasantly plump British actress with rosy cheeks and a beaming face. Her housekeepers were always well-scrubbed and usually ready with a cheery word of advice. She was middle-aged when she came to sound film roles, but stayed for 25 years, having begun her long stage career in the chorus of a George Edwardes' musical show in the 1890s.

Cheerful, motherly British character actress who came to films in middle-age, after a stage career that began at George Edwardes' Gaiety Theatre in musical comedy in the 1890's. Played many housekeepers and was notable in the Noel Coward adaptation of 'The Astonished Heart' and as Grandma Huggett in the Huggett trilogy.
