Captain Bill North: Give me your attention. This command is going after Toriano. Now, on my responsibility, we'll take our orders from Mr. Bannon.
Ed Bannon: I'll make it short. There's only one way to beat the Apache - fight the way he fights... hit and run until he can't run anymore.

Captain Bill North: What is it?
Ed Bannon: Prophecy.
Captain Bill North: Prophecy?
Ed Bannon: They never talk it. It was always written - carved on a tree, painted on a rock. The Invisible One would appear and lead them to victory over the White Eyes. It would be one of their people. He'd come from the East.
Captain Bill North: That fits Toriano
Ed Bannon: That's why he went back East to school... so he could make it fit.

Johnny Gunther: Toriano is more than my friend. We played together when we were young. Look at this.

Johnny Gunther: We made ourselves blood brothers.
Ed Bannon: There's just one way an Apache can put an end to that relationship. He kills ya!

Toriano: In my thoughts there have been visions. The Great One put us here on earth first. He is displeased with those who have come second. To please Him, we must rid the earth of the second-comers. The ghosts of our Fathers demand it and they have shown us a way. To please the Great One, we must dance before we kill. We must dance so the ghost of our Fathers know that we obey their wishes. Ed Bannon: Apaches don't like horses, Sergeant. They ride 'em until they drop, kill 'em and eat 'em and then steal some more.

Colonel Weybright: We're at peace.
Ed Bannon: It's a good way to stay alive while you're at peace.

Ed Bannon: The Apaches have a saying - think what you want to think. You have to live with your thoughts.

Sandy MacKinnon: Captain, you're a smart man. You have lots of brains. You're really intelligent. You're just kind of stupid.

Sandy MacKinnon: Which way are you going back to the post?
Colonel Weybright: The way every detail goes back.
Ed Bannon: Pick another way, Colonel.
Colonel Weybright: These Apaches were here for peace. Do you see any paint on their faces?
Ed Bannon: They don't have to have paint on their faces, but they can't fight without paint. They got to have it on them somewhere.

Sandy: I think they're swinging too wide for a circle, Ed. Maybe they're not using a pattern at all.
Ed Bannon: Apaches always use a pattern for their campaigns. I've seen 'em fight in a circle covering hundreds of miles or in an X as big as the whole territory. Even a zigzag pattern. We got to be sure which one they're using now.
