Irma la Douce (1963) was a Comedy - Romance Film directed by Billy Wilder and produced by Billy Wilder, Edward L. Alperson, I.A.L. Diamond, Doane Harrison and Alexandre Trauner.
SYNOPSIS
Wilder took away the music from the Broadway production, but left the heart. It's all MacLaine's show as the happy-go-lucky hooker who snares gendarme Lemmon's heart when he cleans out a red-light district bordello. Adult comedy with Wilder's bawdy sensibility.

Facts about
The Seine was heavily polluted at the time of the shooting. For the scene where Lord X emerges from underwater Jack Lemmon had to be given a number of immunization shots, including tetanus, before entering the water. He later said it was the most disgusting thing he had ever had to do in a film.
Jack Lemmon married actress Felicia Farr in Paris during this 1962 shoot.
