The film was based on the novel of the same name written by Booth Tarkington published in 1921.
SYNOPSIS
A small-town girl (Hepburn) attempts to climb the social ladder in a midwestern town. Hiding her reduced circumstances from her rich but unassuming beau (MacMurray), she alienates both friends and family. A mild melodrama based on the 1921 novel by Booth Tarkington. Silent version released in 1923.
