In May 1950, Samuel Fuller was assigned to work on the film's screenplay and was considered as a possible director.

Ray Collins and William Talman both co-starred in the TV series Perry Mason.

The film's director John Cromwell was in the Broadway play "The Racket" which opened on November 27, 1927. He starred as McQuigg, the role played in the film by Robert Mitchum.

The only film that Robert Mitchum appeared in which was a remake of a silent film.
