The Simpsons features a character called Radioactive Man who is transformed when accidentally caught in an atomic blast, just like the Rooney character in this film. In one episode a "movie version" of the Radioactive Man comic book character and his sidekick, Fall Out Boy, is being made in Springfield. Mickey Rooney makes his debut as a cartoon in that episode.
