Plane Crazy

Plane Crazy

"Plane Crazy", designated as Disney's first Mickey Mouse, was revived, along with Josef von Sternberg's "The Last Command", at The Auditorium (41 West Fourth Street) in NYC on Monday, November 29, 1937 as part of New York University's cinema-appreciation class for adults.

During production, Ub Iwerks reportedly locked himself in his office and put out as many as 700 animation drawings a day.

The cartoon was pretty much produced in secret, as Walt Disney was still contracted to the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series for Universal.

The soundtrack was added to the film on December 29, 1928.

This is one of six Mickey Mouse shorts that plays in the Main Street Cinema at Disneyland.

This was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon ever made and the first one released when it was shown at a Hollywood theater on May 15, 1928. -
