Paul Fix

Paul Fix

Buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica, California - Block 17.

Father-in-law of actor Harry Carey Jr..

Former resident of Santa Monica, California. Drove a black 1960s Cadillac with longhortns attached to the front and personalized license plates reading: "P FIX".

Had a stutter off-screen.

Served in the US Navy during World War I.

Supposedly Fix taught John Wayne -- a lifelong friend -- his famous and distinctive "rolling walk" when Wayne was starting out in the business. He wanted something to set him apart, so Fix suggested the rolling gait that became his trademark.

Well known to "Star Trek" (1966) fans as Dr. Mark Piper in the second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before". His portrayal of the USS Enterprise's Chief Medical Officer was short-lived, and DeForest Kelley (who would later become a regular cast member of the original Trek and the first six films) replaced him as the CMO.
