Gabriel Pascal

Gabriel Pascal

Despite his French sounding name Gabby was one of the band of Hungarian exiles that centred around Alexander Korda

Producer and occasional director, who, after working in France and Germany, befriended George Bernard Shaw after moving to England. Shaw gave him permission to film his plays, Pascal ultimately producing four of them. However, the stagey Caesar and Cleopatra (1945) turned out to be an expensive flop and all but ended Pascal's career.
