Event Details

Join us at the historic Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge, IL, for our season finale as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this classic sci-fi film based on Pierre Boulle's novel. Charlton Heston stars as Taylor, the leader of a group of astronauts who crash-land on a planet run by apes. Also starring Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, and Linda Harrison, this landmark film spawned four sequels, a television show, a cartoon series, an ill-fated Tim Burton remake, and a modern reboot. But all these incarnations pale in comparison to the original. PLANET OF THE APES was a groundbreaking film due to the makeup by John Chambers, the experimental film score by Jerry Goldsmith, the script by Michael Wilson & Rod Serling, and the film's overall visual design. PotA also features one of the most memorable climaxes in all of 1960s cinema-- an ending we refuse to give away. Go Ape this May! (presented in DCP) NOTE: This will be the final classic film shown on the current screen in Theatre 1. The Pickwick will be renovated this fall. There will be a 2 PM matinee ($6) and a 7:30 PM ($10/$8 advance) screening. Jay Warren performs prelude music at 7 PM. For more information: www.parkridgeclassicfilm.com
