A village in France, during the occupation: jaded widow Barny (Emmanuelle Riva, HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR) walks into the local church to taunt young priest L?on Morin (Jean-Paul Belmondo, BREATHLESS) for persisting in useless fantasies during times of hopelessness and misery. To her surprise, he offers a sympathetic ear and compassionate counsel.
