Brother Orchid (1940)

A gangster (Robinson) takes an extended European vacation to acquire some culture. Upon his return he finds a rival (Bogart) in control of his gang, so he hides out in a monastery. With time, he finds the monastic life more satisfying than crime and embraces his life as Brother Orchid.
