Hello, friends! Is the holiday feeling in the air? Probably not yet, since this is only October 1, the second week of autumn. If you are planning for any holiday yet, it is probably Halloween. However, here at PEPS, we have decided to announce all three of our remaining 2020 blogathons early, so you can join whichever ones suit your fancy! October has The 4th Annual Great Breening Blogathon, November has The Third Annual Claude Rains Blogathon, and now December has The 2nd Happy Holidays Blogathon!
Spring and summer were basically cancelled this year, along with every holiday since St. Patrick's Day. Let's make up for it by making this autumn and winter holiday season a joyous one to remember for years to come!
We're doing our part toward making 2020's holiday season festive for hosting The Happy Holidays Blogathon here at PEPS for the second year in a row. In 2017, I celebrated the Yuletide season at PEPS with The Twelve Days of Christmas with the Code, which was fun but time-consuming. Like many of my projects, it turned out to be more work than I had anticipated! Last year, I thought of a way to celebrate wonderful classic Christmas movies without having to write a bunch of articles myself. I decided to host a blogathon honoring the greatest holiday films of all time. It turned out to be such a fun Christmas party that we're hosting it again this year!
We're hosting this blogathon on the second weekend of December, before the real Christmas rush begins. The dates are December 11-13. This blogathon is all about movies which feature the winter holidays. Whether it is just one scene or the whole film, this is your chance to write about your favorite holiday movies!
What films are eligible?
Any film with a holiday scene is eligible! It can be a movie with one holiday scene, a whole holiday theme, or a time span of several holidays. In this blogathon, we are not restricting participants to classic films. You can write about any holiday film, regardless of when it was made. Since many people wrote about television shows and holiday specials last year, we are officially included shows, as well.
Which holidays are eligible?
Last year, we included every holiday from Thanksgiving to Kwanzaa, only to find that everyone wanted to write about Christmas! Thus, this year, we're mainly focusing on winter rather than fall ones. The main focus of this year's blogathon is Christmas. We also are allowing New Years. Since that weekend is the beginning of Hanukkah, we are also allowing reviews of Hanukkah films and television shows. These will probably be more modern, since we've never heard of a classic Hanukkah film. If there are some, we'd love to find out what they are!
How do I participate?
If you want to participate, just leave us a comment and say so! We are putting no restrictions on duplicates. Participants may write as many articles as they want to. You can write about one film/television show or several which you like. If the film you want to review only has one holiday scene, you can write about the other parts of the movie, as well, as long as you make a point of mentioning the holiday scene. You also can write about holiday songs used in movies.
Please use one of the banners we designed for this occasion! We have one for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years. Please use these in your articles and beforehand to spread the holiday cheer early!
