Nightclub singer Joey Evans's (Frank Sinatra) dreams of running his own club and making a mint. Too bad Joey's penchant for being a cad often derails his plans. Despite his earnest affections for kind chorus singer Linda (Kim Novak), Joey sets his sights on seducing wealthy widow Vera Simpson (Rita Hayworth) in an effort to bankroll his nightclub. Now, Joey's time and luck are running out and he has to decide what's more important in life - wealth and fame or true love.
