  1. M.T. Fisher says:

The fact it has all the essentials for a great motion picture: Love, adventure, camaraderie, treachery, suspense, and a happy ending. Not to mention a fine cast.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi MT, I don’t see your tweet yet, but I’m having some trouble with twitter. Please confirm that you tweeted. Thanks!

  2. Robin Quinn says:

Just entered to win tickets to the princess bride on the big screen

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Robin, I am guessing that you don’t have a twitter account, since you posted the twitter comment here. If you do have a twitter account, please tweet the message… If not, no worries…

  3. Ashley Hinz says:

I honestly think it’s the dialogue. The movie itself is a little bizarre, but there’s an innocent quality to it.

  4. Sara Stewart says:

It’s a classic because every part of it is memorable, the characters, the scenery, the story. This is one of my favourite movies (Mandy Patinkin is INCREDIBLE) and I never got to see it in the theatre

  5. Vicki Boston says:

Well I’ll be honest-I HAD seen THE PRINCESS BRIDE on DVD AND Cable TV. But never had seen it ON THE BIG SCREEN. And that’s NOT INCONCEIVIBLE!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Vicki, I don’t see your tweet, but I think it’s because your account is private, so you are good to go… Good Luck!

  6. Douglas Barnett says:

I saw this several times in the theater when it first came out.
For me a classic movie has to have three things, a great story
Talented actors and amazing cinematography. This movie has all of those.
My daughter loves this film and has never seen it in the theater.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Douglas, I don’t see your tweet yet. Please confirm that you tweeted the message, and if you don’t have a twitter account, please let me know here. Thanks 🙂

  7. This movie has such classic lines like “as you wish” and “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” how can it not be classed as a classic. This movie is what dreams are made of and no matter how many times i watch it i will always want to watch it one more time!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Sandra, I don’t see your tweet, but I think it’s because your account is private, so you are good to go… Good Luck!

  8. Ryan Jones says:

I think what makes The Princess Bride a classic is how it is a family friendly adventure that just has fun with itself instead of trying to be too serious. And it just has all the classic elements- a princess, sword fights, giants, etc., all the things I want to see!

  9. Mikary says:

The fact that “The Princess Bride” is so widely quoted makes it a classic!

I saw this movie on the big screen not long after it came out, but my husband had never seen it until we got the DVD a few years ago. He really enjoyed it and finally understood why people would say, “Have fun storming the castle!” He is my Westley and I am his Buttercup and I think he deserves an opportunity to see it on the big screen!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh how wonderful (Westley and Buttercup 🙂
I’ve never seen this on the Big Screen and can’t wait… loved the movie and the book.
Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  10. Bharat says:

The movie now appears dated and most shots look like they were done in a studio but there is an inherent innocence in the movie which make it very endearing. The lead characters do a great job and it’s fun to watch it on the big screen.

  11. Mark PAGAN says:

The fact that you were able to open this post with that bit of a single character’s dialog is all I need to qualify the “classic” status!

  12. Daniel G. says:

Everything comes together in The Princess Bride to form a near perfect movie that everyone can enjoy: Rob Reiner’s direction, William Goldman’s book and script, and the performances by Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Mandy Patinkin, André the Giant & all the others.
It’s been ages since I’ve seen this and would like to take my Princess Bride to see it on the big screen.

*I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

      Oh that’s a wonderful reason!

I’ve loved this movie, and the book, for quite some time. But I’ve never seen it on the Big Screen… I think it will be quite special…

Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  13. Caitlin says:

I think it’s a classic because it has all the elements of a classic fairytale but the sparkling dialogue keeps an old archetype fresh. It’s the kind of movie you can watch over and over and never tire of. My boyfriend hasn’t seen it so I’d love to share it with him.

  14. Jerry Stewart says:

This has all of the elements of a classic swashbuckler. Heros, villains, swordplay, a damsel in distress and a happy ending. Not to mention the outstanding cast. Classic!!!

  15. Yam says:

It’s a classic fairytale story with a twist. I saw this when I was 8 years old and I’ve been in love with it all these years. The actors are great the storyline is fun and the cinematography during the time this movie was made is on point.

  16. Ana Roland says:

I would like to see “TCM Big Screen Classics: The Princess Bride because I have never seen the film before. It is a favorite and often quoted film of so many people I know. I also have an interest in seeing this film because it screened at TCMFF 2017. It has an incredible cast of characters. A classic film is one that proves the test of time. Thirty years later the film is still popular because of its universal, cross-generational appeal.

  17. Bianca Bonifacio says:

The Princess Bride is seriously one of my favorite movies of all time! It is a classic for sure. I can watch it over and over again. The cast, dialogue, and comedic timing makes it a classic. From start to finish, I am engaged and stimulated. I just love quoting the movie, too. I also own many TPB related items such as shirts, several DVD copies, perfume, diary, and the paperback book. Best of luck to everyone!!

  18. Shawn D Moore says:

I want to win the tickets primarily because my girlfriend loves this movie, and secondly, its just a hoot! 🙂

  19. Candy Green says:

What makes The Princess Bride a classic? It’s a throw back to the Golden Age of Hollywood with adventure/swashbuckler movies such as The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn and The Mark of Zorro with Tyrone Power.
I’ve never seen The Princess Bride on the big screen; only on TV and that’s just not the same experience. It would be a thrill to see this movie on the big screen, hear those classic lines that we all quote and simply be entertained with a good story and unique characters that we’ve all come to know and love.

  20. Alexi White says:

It’s a classic because The Princess Bride can bring the whole family together. I’m watching it right now with my brother, who I don’t have much in common with, but we both enjoy the movie. It’s also a classic because of its humor. Every single line of the movie is hilarious, especially Fezzik’s rhymes. I also think the true love plot makes it a classic because Westley was willing to do anything to get back to Buttercup.

  21. Heather says:

The Princess Bride is a classic because of the unforgettable quotes! Such as Casablanca had “Play it again Sam”, “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”, and “Here’s looking at you kid” The Princess Bride had “Inconceivable!”, ” No more rhymes I mean it! Anyone want a peanut?!” and of course “As you wish”.

I would love to see it in theaters because there is nothing like being in a theater watching an amazing movie with my husband! Also I absolutely adore this movie and seeing it in theaters for the first time is a dream!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Such a special film, and I think it’s going to be magical on the Big Screen… Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  22. Moose Flores says:

It’s a classic story of love between a man and his grandson.

    Without all that mushy stuff.

  23. Moni Mendez says:

The princess bride is a classic for me, because it’s a special movie I share with my kiddos. We quote the lines in our every day chatter with eachother. We have watched it for years, never having seen it at the movie theater.  I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  24. stacey vinson says:

I love the dialogue! Who doesn’t quote from it all the time? I also love how it pokes fun at itself. It was probably odd for its time and has been a huge influence.
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  25. James T Alexander Jr says:

Wonderfull story with great acting and humour for all ages. Perfect in mirror of the book of which I read.

  26. Joshua Prater says:

It’s my mom’s favorite movie and I’ve never truly seen it. Maybe only a snippet when I was young. I’d love to be able to take her as she always helps me out and this would be a great treat for her!

  27. Jarrod Taylor says:

(I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.)
To quote Grandpa, ” Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles… ”
Combine that with great (and funny) dialogue and performances, and you have a film that you can’t help but fall in love with.

  28. Rebecca Hodge says:

I want to see it because it has WUV TWU WUV

  29. carol geary says:

This movie is a classic because we are still quoting lines from it thirty years later!
It’s a movie you can watch again and again and still enjoy it as much as the first time!
