The ensemble cast, the so-quotable lines, and Phoebe Cates in red (!).

  2. Vicki Boston says:

One thing that amazes me-NO LIE. Phoebe Cates-Kline was born on the same day as me. Tuesday July 16th, 1963. She was born in NYC-I in Woodland, California.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Vicki, that’s such a fun fact 🙂 especially because it’s not just a birthday that you share, but also a birth year!

I’m not sure if you wanted to enter the contest or not… but I don’t see your tweet. So, if you want to officially enter, please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know by commenting back here if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks so much 🙂

  3. Kim Smith says:

I graduated high school in 1985, so this is a “classic” film from my era, completely encapsulating everything that we were going through during the 1980’s. I look back at this film with fond memories. I am really looking forward to seeing it again. It has been years since I have seen it.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter, but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I haven’t seen it in years, so it’ll be a treat to see it on the Big Screen… Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  4. Bob Langmaid says:

I think it’s a classic because it touches on several themes of teen angst or coming of age that many of us s remember like sex and drugs and school and friends, etc. It’s writing, directing, and acting are simply phenomenal, and it hit home for millions!

  5. Alton Gardner says:

The movie soundtrack is full of classics from the 80s

  6. tracy sharpe says:

ive seen fast times at ridgemont high so many times! its one of those classic teenage movies that you just want to keep on watching over and over again. i love sean penn as jeff spicoli! he just makes me crack up! when he comes in late for the first day of class and mr hand tears up his schedule, was one of the best scenes ever! you dick! haha!! i would love to see it in theaters!

  7. Liliana Radwanski says:

    1. It’s a Classic Teen of the 1980’s film about High School life, 1st time sexual experiences. This is the Film that launched the careers of Stars: Sean Penn, Judge Reinhold, Eric Stoltz, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Forrest Whitaker, and Phoebe Cates. Many guys dreamed of Phoebe Cates, coming out of the pool in her Red Bikini.

We were tail end Baby Boomers coming of age when, this movie came out.it’s still funny and endearing to us, all these years later.I saw it with my sister on the Big Screen 35 years ago.I love this movie. My favorite parts were Jeff Spicolli getting Pizza delivered to his History Classroom. Mr.Hand was the Teacher played Brilliantly by Ray Walston, Uncle Martin from My Favorite Martians.

Mr.Hand informs Spicolli that, he was wasting his and the classes time and felt that he and the class were entitled to the pizza. and Mr. Hand told the students to help themselves to the Pizza.Jennifer as Stacy, experiencing sexual experiences and, having to face the consequences.it still resonates true for The Millennial generation.I would love to see it again on the Big Screen!❤

  9. George Gomez says:

Great cast with great lines that capture that era well.

  10. Cory Kirk says:

I want to see Heckerling’s “Fast Times” because it is the seminal movie that showcases America’s nostalgic shopping mall days. I grew up in the 90s so I’ve seen the malls of yesteryear but this highlights the 80s seamlessly with “Valley Girl”-like lingo and stellar performances from my 80s favs Jason Leigh, Penn, Cates (omg Drop Dead Fred) and Reinhold. Totally paved way for one of my favs “Clueless” (thank you Heckerling!) and dig this movie to utmost supreme levels!

  11. bill norris says:

Its hard to think people havent seen this yet, but if they havent theyre in for a treat. Great story and cast makes the a for sure classic.

  12. Ashley Hinz says:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it all the way through.

  13. Gaylinne Kenney says:

I find it to be a classic because of the setting and era, besides, the performances of the actors. The direction was spot on, bringing the most dynamic, yet, genuine precision of characters out of the entire cast.

  14. Lillian Haas says:

I have never seen it, and everyone I mention that fact to is incredulous. So I guess I should finally see it — and absolutely everything is better on the big screen.

The music, the memorable lines, the cast of soon-to-be big stars! That’s what makes “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” a classic! (Plus the sweet love story between Stacy and Mark!)

I’ve seen the movie, but never before on the Big Screen.

*** I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message. ***

  21. James Irianne says:

The cast was so young and many went on to be more successful

  22. Michael Davis says:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a classic because it was based on Cameron Crowe’s real experiences undercover in high school, made stars out of so many young actors, has hilarious dialogue and the best soundtrack of the 80s. These are the things that make it a all-time classic!

  23. Grant Sambo says:

I believe it’s a total classic. Given the hyperbola…. it was still a very good commentary on typical late teen issues…topics…anxieties…. it was perfect… touched on them all.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Grant, I can’t find your tweet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know here if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks 🙂

  24. Dave Brown says:

This film is a classic for a number of reasons. First off the music. I owned this soundtrack on vinyl days after it came out. Second the actors-How many have gone on to huge roles? Third the setting is quintessential eighties as in the mall and HS. They don’t make films like this anymore. I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

And it should definitely be a fun one to see on the Big Screen… Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

  25. Michael says:

It’s been said before but it just captures the spirit of the time and being a dumb teenager so well.

  26. Brooks Rogers says:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a true timeless classic because many of the experiences the characters experience in the film happen to high schoolers still to this day like how to impress your crush, working part time at jobs you hate, drug use and even teen pregnancy. Fast Times also launched the careers of many young actors, who were unknown at the time, that went on to become huge stars still to this day like Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Penn and even Nicolas Cage who goes mainly unseen in the film. The film is considered a classic because it was written by critically acclaimed writer and director Cameron Crowe, who has since created other memorable pictures like Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous. The film is notorious for its classic scenes that entertain any high school audience from any era, like the pool scene and comedic dialogue gold from Sean Penn’s character. Finally, the soundtrack, comprised mostly from late 1970’s and early 1980’s classic rock, that plays throughout the film turns Fast Times at Ridgemont High into an even more memorable picture because it is music that is still beloved to this day.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, all good reasons! And I do like Ray Walston as ‘Mr. Hand’ 🙂 Thanks for entering and Good Luck!

  27. A Long says:

It is a crazy fun movie but has the sad undercurrent of unwanted pregnancy and abortion. Spiccoli is funny and even Nick Cage shows up! And, oh ya, Phoebe Cates.
