Perhaps no other movie has become as beloved and as synonymous with Hollywood glamour as Casablanca. Humphrey Bogart is Rick Blaine, owner of Rick’s, the nightclub that everyone in Casablanca attends – including resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) and his wife, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), whose sudden appearance leads to some of the best dialogue ever written for the movies.

142 Responses to Win Tickets to see “TCM Big Screen Classics: Casablanca (75th Anniversary)” (Giveaway runs October 1 – October 28)

  1. Sara Stewart says:

I love everything about it, but honestly, the cinematography was incredible. Black and white film is such an art and I think it’s sad that today’s filmmakers don’t realize that.

  2. Makenzie Baldwin says:

I have always heard the amazing things people have to say about this film. So for my first time seeing the movie, it would be a thrill to see it on the big screen! It would make me feel as if the film is coming out for the first time and I was there to see it. I have always wanted to go back in time to Hollywood’s golden age and live to see these pieces of art come to life. If I could see it for the first time on the big screen, it would be a surreal and magnificent event!

  3. Gwen Loeffler says:

The right people lived; the right people died; the right people wound up together in the end.

  4. Shelia says:

Ohhhh! Nice!!! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it and I have never seen it on a big screen. I’m a sucker for the love story. Would be great to revisit the whole thing! Thanks.

  5. Liliana Radwanski says:

“You must Remember this, a kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.the fundamental things apply as time goes by”!
“Of all the Gin Joints in the World, she had to come into mine “!
Rick and Ilsa are star crossed lovers who would always have Paris.
Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman lit up the Screen with unforgettable Chemistry.this is the stuff that a Classic is made of.Sprinkle in Paul Henreid as Ilsa’s husband Lazlo and Claude Rains, who like Humphrey Bogart said made,” the beginning of a Beautiful Friendship!
I saw it many times.I own the Bluray set but, would love to see it on the Bigscreen.
It is an unforgettable classic and Love Story.
    Vogue should’ve gotten an Oscar!
What I Love about it is that it is not only a love story but, it has action.Rick had to help get Iowa’s husband outbid Casablanca before he could get captured and give up his lady.a movie for the guys and ladies is what I Love most about it.

  6. Liliana Radwanski says:

    Just tweeted

  7. Kassidy Jacobs says:

Casablanca was my first Bogart film and I was obsessed! Such an amazing actor. Everything about this movie is so glamorous and is everything to love about old hollywood. It deserves to be seen on the big screen! I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh I so agree that it deserves to be seen on the Big Screen! Can’t wait to see it myself. Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  8. M.T. Fisher says:

There are too many great things about CASABLANCA for one person to post here. But it seems when you watch a film on the big screen, you always see things you never catch on the television. Again, this is one I’m introducing to a friend when we see it on the big screen, as it’s the proper way for him to see it for the first time. Quintessential Bogart.

  9. Connie says:

What I love most about Casablanca is its love story, from that proud unwavering love we see when they sing the French national anthem loud and proud, when we hear the life in music as Sam plays “As Time Goes By” and just the whole final scene when Rick tells Elsa to leave because he knows that she obviously loves Victor and it’s just this acceptance that of course they were once in love, but they can never return to that and long story short, I love what this movie tells us about love.

  10. Bob Nichnadowicz says:

I’m a big movie buff, yet somehow I’ve never seen it. Right now you’re screaming “WHAT?!?!? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?” That’s what everyone says. And that’s why I need to win tickets to see this. Please help my self esteem.

  11. Daniel G. says:

As a “Classic among Classics”, I am ashamed to say that I haven’t seen Casablanca. It’s one of those movies that I have always wanted to see, but only in the best possible circumstances. It didn’t seem right to just pop in a DVD, kick back in a La-Z-Boy, and eat pizza. However, this seems like the perfect time to finally see it… on the BIG SCREEN! I’d love to make a date night out of it and take my wife to dinner and a movie. 🙂

*I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh my! That needs to be remedied! Definitely a ‘Classic among Classics’! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  12. Tracy Sharpe says:

this is a very crazy story! when i first heard about cassablanca it was in one of my film studies classes back in college. my professor was going on and on about this movie and how amazing it is. i gave it a chance and didnt understand what all the hype was about and why this movie was so iconic. i read that humphry bogart beat about marlon brando (my favorite actor) for best actor in 1951, and i was so pissed! i couldnt understand why!! anyways, i watched cassablanca again and realized this movie is just a classic. its so hard to explain it but the entire storyline is flawless. you can even quote the movie over and over again. i think its the connection between humphry bogart and ingrid bergman that makes such a love story so real and something that anyone can relate to. its just a movie you have to watch for yourself to understand how iconic it is. play it sam, play as time goes by. to see this movie in theaters would be so much fun!

  13. Marigrace Molluso says:

What I love best about Casablanca is the intrigue. Each character operates within the law for their own self preservation but simultaneously works with the black market and the freedom fighters.

  14. Jeanelle Kleveland says:

I have seen this movie dozens of times and no doubt will see it dozens more. However, I’ve never seen it on the big screen. I love seeing how the various relationships work in this film. They are complicated and you can see how you are friends and enemies with the same person depending on the issue at hand.

I look forward to seeing it on the big screen.

  15. Tom Restivo says:

Because the music was the basis of our engagement and first dance.

  16. Javier Valverde says:

What I love most about “Casablanca” is the direction of Michael Curtiz. He directs Ingrid Bergman, Humphrey Bogart, Dooley Wilson and the rest of the cast in a superb manner. I also Max Steiner’s beautiful score as well, which is the second ingredient that makes the film a classic. I also love Arthur Edeson’s cinematography. He beautifully films all the scenes with in a chiaroscuro style that is the third ingredient that makes this film a classic.

  17. Kari says:

I love that Casablanca is such a wonderful combination of drama, romance, and suspense. I actually only saw it for the first time recently and was enchanted by it! I would love to see it on the big screen.

  18. Mark PAGAN says:

I want to see it for the waters.
“But it’s set in the North African desert.”
    I was misinformed.

  19. Jean F says:

What I love most about Casablanca is the magnetism between Ilsa and Rick – and how they walked away from each other for the greater good. Who could do that? They are played to perfection by Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart.

  20. Paul Gallagher says:

Very few films live up to their reputation as “classic” entertainment. “Casablanca” does. Courage, humor, honor, sacrifice — it’s a story that never fails to hold an audience’s attention from first scene to last. I have only ever seen it on TV, so I would love to see it on the big screen.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Paul, I can’t seem to find your tweet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks 🙂

  21. Candy Green says:

What do you love most about “Casablanca”
For me, it’s the secondary characters in Casablanca that make this an especially good movie. For a long time, I felt Casablanca had become a big cliche in the decades since its ’42 release. However, when I looked beyond the, “Here’s looking at you kid” and “We’ll always have Paris” lines that have been mimicked in other films and TV shows ad nauseam, I realized it’s the character actors such as S.Z. Sakall, Sydney Greenstreet, Conrad Veidt, Peter Lorre, Leonid Kinskey and others that really enhance the movie; making its stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Raines and Paul Henreid shine even brighter.

  22. David Robinson says:

I’ve always loved black and white movies but have never seen Casablanca. I always hoped my first time to see it would be on the big screen.

  23. Anna Fulbright says:

I love the aroma nice between Bogart and Bacall.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Anna, I’m not sure I understand your answer, but that’s okay… One thing however, I haven’t seen your tweet yet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks 🙂

  24. John Barrett says:

Perfectly cast. Great script. War, romance, suspense, comedy. What’s not to love?

  25. Marybeth crowley says:

I love the fantastic cast… and the soundtrack… really great music that adds to the story

  26. Elizabeth Hagee says:

I love how there are so many different parts to this movie. And I love how all of the parts come together and fit like puzzle pieces. There are so many highs and lows and throughout the movie you think you know how it will end but it doesn’t end that way. But even though the outcome isn’t what we wanted it still leaves you pleased, refreshed and happy.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Elizabeth, I can’t seem to find your tweet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know here if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks!

  27. Peter Holloway says:

One of the greatest love stories ever and a tear jerker aswell.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Peter, I can’t seem to find your tweet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know here that you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks!

  28. Woody Woodrum says:

Many fans consider “Casablanca” a Classic among Classics, so I know that this may be tough to answer. What do you love most about “Casablanca”? And, if you haven’t seen it, why do you want to see it on the Big Screen?

I have been lucky enough to see the movie on the big screen, but it was many, many years ago with my wife. The print was sub-par but we were just married (coming up on 27th anniversary) and, for me, Casablanca is the best movie among all movies – just edging “Citizen Kane” due to the great writing for Bogie, Bergman, and Rains as well as the rest of the cast. Any chance to see it again, this time remastered and cleaned up, would be a great gift for any movie fan! I watch it everytime it is run and I will continue to for the rest of my life.

  29. Rosemary Taylor says:

There are many things to love about the film… For the sake of brevity I’ll cite its emphasis on sacrifice and resignation over chest-thumping patriotism and cheaply crowd-pleasing resolutions. The performances are brilliantly lived-in and nuanced. The first time I ever saw Casablanca was with my late father at a 50th anniversary screening. It’d be lovely to revisit it in a cinema for the first time since then.

  30. David Kassnoff says:

“I came to Casablanca for the waters.”
“But sir, Casablanca is in the desert.”
    “I was misinformed.”
Great film. See it at least once a year.
    Thank you.

  31. Joe Bean says:

I love the shadows and the smoke and the drinking in the shadows and smoke. I love Bergman’s face but not as much as Bogart’s. I love Ugarte’s weaseliness and Sascha’s “Yes, Boss.” I want to see it on the big screen because it’s a larger than life movie and deserves to be see on the big screen.

  32. Les Cook says:

Of course the casting is perfect, but I find the writing to be superb.
Anytime you can get as many quotable lines, that almost everyone knows, from one film, you’ve got some great writing.

I’ve seen it on the big screen back in the early 80’s, but I celebrated a little too much before the show, so my memory is a little fuzzy.

  33. Walter Szymakowski says:

Casablanca takes you to two places. One feels the emotions of the characters in Casablanca December 1940 and feels the emotions of the American movie goer in the dark war days of early 1942. The scene in which they sing La Marseillaise brings tears to my eyes. Great story, great actors, great art.

  34. Elizabeth Hagee says:

This movie is one of my all time favorites. There are so many parts and pieces to it and all the pieces fit together like a puzzle. Throughout the movie you can kind of tell what the outcome will be but in reality the ended is not that way. Even though it doesn’t end the way we would like it to, it still is a happy ending and leaves you wanting more.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Elizabeth, I still can’t seem to find your tweet. Since you’ve taken the time to enter twice via this blog post, I will assume at this point that you don’t have a twitter account. So, that said, I will officially enter you. Thanks and Good Luck!

  35. steven Crayne says:

Because I cry like a baby every time I see it.

  36. Ralph HoverstenII says:

Where to begin? This movie has a little bit of everything romance drama comedy. Also looking back historically this movies purpose about World War II cannot be overstated. The memorable lines that are set in this movie also to hear Sam play as time goes by is worth the price of admission by itself.

  37. Ray Winey says:

All movies have a different look and feel on the big screen. There are details that you can see that you can’t see or notice on the small screen. No matter how many times you see a movie on television, the theater experience is best for experiencing a movie. Casablanca is no exception. I am a movie lover and this movie is my all time favorite. I never tire of seeing it.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Ray, I’ve tried to contact you via email because you were one of our winners. I sent a 2nd email today, and will need your information by tomorrow, Sunday, 6pm EST at the very latest. Thanks!

  38. Norma Jean Parker says:

First of all there’s Bogart, then there’s Bergman!. And another thing I loved, an African American actor being treated with respect. All the rest of the cast members were escapees from the nazis or others affected by the war, even the ones playing nazis in Casablanca. A masterpiece, as far as I’m concerned!

I do not have a twitter account.

  39. Elizabeth McGrady says:

It’s Boggie at his best! Drama, romance, spies, intrigue, men in uniforms, femme fatale, lust, the best of film noir.

  40. Norm_Ray says:

I guess I love all the different characters in the movie. Like pieces of a puzzle they all make perfect fits to make such a great picture.

  41. Anna F. says:

I love the chemistry between Bogart and Bacall.

  42. aj long says:

What I love most about Casablanca is the eternal romance that Rick and Ilsa shared. The power of the short time they had together carries them through the rest of their lives. All aspects of the film support this story of romance: Paris, the depth of love, the potency of supposed rejection of Rick’s love, Ilsa’s torn heart, the War, Laszlo’s Cause, patriotism, Sam’s music—all these embody the theme of romance. Joan Alison’s story, the actors, the movie’s score and Curtiz’s direction combine to immortalize the movie. We’ll always have Casablanca.

  43. Matr Whitehurst says:

I am a sucker for a great romance movie and Casablanca is one of those movies. What I love about the movie that it sets up the story in a good amount of time, the cast is great, and the bittersweet ending is still makes an impact on me every time I watch it.

  44. Jason says:

I have never seen Casablanca before and would love to experience it in the theater and be transported back to that time.

  45. I first saw Bogart when I was 12. I fell in love for the first time with Rick in Cadablsnca. I watched the movie and cried like a baby at the end when they parted. What a love story. It is what women dream about. He was sexy, he was strong. What a man. I saw the movie every time it was on. It was beautiful love story, a war story, and a human story showing the strong and weak of men and women. What a GREAT movie. When they put movies you could buy and watch at home I
wore out a number of them watching Bogart. I still watch now. At my wedding I had “Kiss is Still A Kiss” played. The excitement of what the Germans were trying to do. How Bogart would show strong and weakness over Bergman. What a love story. I still love Bogart and seeing him on the BIG screen, bigger than life is a dream come true.

#2 Just entered to win tickets to see “Casablanca” on the BIG SCREEN courtesy of @ClassMovieHub and @FathomEvents#TCMBIGSCREEN.

  46. Adam V. says:

I love the stars, they just show off the style of the era and elevate the film to an exceptional level. One of the best.

  47. Kevin Pates says:

The script produced by the Epstein twins (and others) was being finished during filming. The lead characters didn’t know how the story would end. Neither do the movie viewers. We watch, we are entertained and we hope for the best in the most classic love story ever filmed.

  48. Ana Roland says:

“We’ll Always Have Paris…” CASABLANCA is an unforgettable movie that is easy to love. There’s actually far more to the film than most people perceive, including its most fervent admirers. One can watch this film upon repeated viewings and admire the superb craftsmanship in every scene. Great performances, dialogue, story and that song (!) ~ “As Time Goes By,” (music and words by Herman Hupfeld.) Ultimately, it is our emotional investment in Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman’s plight that stays with us. It doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. 75 years later it still resonates with ardor.

  49. Duane Pittman says:

Never seen it so the big screen seems like the perfect opportunity.
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I haven’t seen it on the Big Screen yet either, but I imagine it will be incredible. Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  50. Cora Burke says:

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message. For me it will always be the chemistry between Bogart and Bergman. I’ve never seen it on the big screen and would dearly love to. Thanks for the opportunity!

  51. Gina Hatfield says:

I’ve never seen this classic but I want to see it on the big screen because it’s supposed to be one of the best Humphrey Bogart movies and what better way to see it for the first time than on the big screen?? I can’t wait to see it even if I don’t win the tickets!
I do not have a Twitter account so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

This is truly a classic among classics and a ‘must see’ for every classic movie fan — in my humble opinion 🙂 Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck!

  52. Sherri says:

The intrigue, the tortured love story, the doing the right thing, even though it sucks. Love love love! Last November, I told my mom & sister “If Casablanca ever comes to the big screen, I don’t care what happens, I am going!” My sister said the 4 words that left me thunderstruck “I’ve never seen it.” I mean, can you even imagine?! So, I am taking her for her first Casablanca. I. Cannot. Wait!

  53. Steve Sofka says:

This film has been in my personal favorite top 5 films for all of my adult life. The story is timeless, the casting is perfection, and the fact that the film is in black and white only adds to the melodrama. No matter how many times I watch it, this film never gets old and I always come away renewed in my appreciation for this “masterpiece”! Seeing it on the big screen just takes the experience to a whole new level!

  54. Alex Mendez says:

Rick is one of my favorite characters of all time, and Bogart is just excellent in this role. His passion, anger, and humor makes for such a full and relatable character. My husband introduced me to Casablanca when we were dating as “the best movie ever made. Ever.” I would so love to surprise my husband with these tickets.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh what a wonderful reason to want to win. That would be a lovely surprise 🙂 Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck!

  55. william parker says:

I think the Humphrey Bogart is at his finest in this film and its an amazing world war 2 era picture! The actors are sensational and the plot is so enjoyable, I’d love to to see tho classic on the big screen!

  56. Julie Moon says:

I love so many things… the cinematography, the casting, the story, Sam at the piano, the line “Louis, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship”.! Would love to see it on the big screen at last!

  57. Dave Mac says:

What I’ve always loved most about the film was the on screen chemistry of every single actor. It’s like watching people fall in love with, laugh with, yes even betray one another all while being trapped in Casablanca. The screenplay was brilliantly written bringing to life these characters that will surely live on for as long as lovers of film are out there.

  58. Judy Brown says:

I love the chemistry between Bogart and Bergman. It is absolutely palpable. You know they care deeply for each other, which makes the ending so bittersweet. I love that the powers that be didn’t know how the story would end. In spite of or because of the chemistry, it ended the only way it could.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Judy, I can’t seem to find your tweet. Please remember to tweet the message or just let me know here if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks!

  59. Emily says:

I love Casablanca because it isn’t cheesy, it doesn’t sell out, it’s real life in all of its messy, imperfect beauty. And it shows that sometimes it’s okay if the guy doesn’t get the girl, and life keeps moving and it’s still beautiful even when it’s not a fairy tale.
Actually got to go to Ricks in Casablanca this past spring… talk about needing out! ❤
Sadly I do not have a Twitter acct to be able to retweet this

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh my!!!!! Rick’s in Casablanca! How awesome that must have been!!! Would love to see it myself… truly… Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  60. melissa creel says:

The dialog and story holds up over time, and watching it even now, it is still very well done. Some movies don’t hold up well over time and when you re watch it later, it is a huge let down. Casablanca is still as good today as the first time I saw it.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I so agree. Casablanca is still an amazing film today… A classic among classics IMHO. Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  61. Noah Ramer says:

I love Casablanca because of the history wrapped into the movie. Without any background, its still a great movie, but understanding the plight of the Jews during WW2 at this time and what Casablanca was really made the movie stand out in my opinion. I also love all the quotable lines!

  62. Lauren Farrelly says:

I LOVE the romance of the movie but I really love the classic way the movie was shot! Also my husband (then boyfriend) set up this super romantic movie night in his dorm room, kicked out his roommates, made popcorn, bought my favorite candy! All because I had never seen it and he loved it! So it’s super sentimental!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh what a wonderful story. I love hearing when couples met and/or bonded over the classics! Makes the classics even more special than they are… Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  63. Juli Handley says:

I love the cast and they way they interact. This was made in the days when actors did not rely on computer graphics and obscenity to sell a film. They had to use their talent and facial expressions, their eyes, great timing, and dialogue to captivate an audience. This stellar cast did so and in grand style. The final scene at the airplane is one of the classic film moments of all time! I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I so agree with everything you said… The cast indeed was stellar, as was the story. One of my all time favorites. Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  64. Jlwthe2nd says:

Love all the classic lines this movie produced. So fun to repeat!! So hoping it works into my schedule to see this on the big screen. Love the TCMs that are re-released to enjoy again in the theaters.
I don’t have a twitter account and cannot tweet so I am posting a message here.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Love the dialog as well, and I probably know lots of it by heart — as we probably all do 🙂 Thank you so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  65. Norman Umberger says:

    The chemistry/love between the stars.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  66. Cathy Guidi-Scherm says:

My favorite is the inspector. Can’t tell you how many times I quote, I’m shocked to find there is gambling! Just a well done movie and Ingrid Bergman is gorgeous!

  67. Tim Potratz says:

I love the story of Casablanca it’s an awesome story told with brilliant characters. I would love to see it on the big screen because the story is larger then life I want to see it played out larger than life…literally.

  68. Emily says:

I love everything about it, but if I had to pick one thing, it would probably be the music.

When I first watched Casablanca, I loved the love story. I fell in love with the characters and the struggles they endured. I also cried a lot in the ending.

The second time I watched Casablanca, I fell in love with the script. The words the characters said and the conversations and the sub-textual message of influencing support for the war.

The third time I watched it, I fell in love with the cinematography, the unique techniques and added to the drama and elements of the film.

The thing is, no matter how many times you watch Casablanca, there is always something new that makes you love it even more. It’s that timeless classic that speaks to generations. I am a college student and I can watch this film with my friends and love and with my grandma and love it just as much. Watching this film and talking about it will never go out of style. I just watched it a fourth time for my US History through Film Class and I still love it just as much as the first time I watched it.

Casablanca is the absolute perfect movie! The cast, the direction, the costumes, the luminous cinematography, the music, and most of all, the script. The script is pure poetry! I’ve seen it so many times, but it never loses its freshness and its powerful appeal! I don’t have a Twitter account, so this is the only way I can enter. Thanks for the opportunity!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

One of my all time favorites. Loved the way you described the script, perfect! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

Working at a vintage store, Casablanca was nearly always playing in the background, and nearly always, on mute; as a matter of fact, I’ve only heart bits and pieces of it, and never seen the film in it’s entirety. My favorite thing about it, is that even in bits and pieces, and even on mute, it is absolutely stunning to watch. The expressions on the actors’ faces, the clothes, and the music that I have heard, was wonderful.

I’ve never seen Casablanca, but would love to because I am a huge movie fan. I haven’t explored the classic films as much as I would like to, so I think this film could be that movie that just makes me fall in love with the genre/era.

  73. Mya Murphy says:

I can honestly say it’s my favorite movie of all time. I love the acting, the music, the feel. I should have been born in this era..so much romance. So much passion!!! Seeing this classic on a big screen, just the thought, makes me want to cry.. I have loved this movie since I was a little girl, watching it on my daddy’s lap.

What I love about Casa Blanca is simply the iconic love story. I don’t honestly remember if I have ever seen the movie from start to finish, but my husband and daughter know they haven’t and the three of us are looking forward to watching it on the big screen together!

The passion and the cinematography make Casablanca Shay it’s is. Seeing a classic like this on the big screen would be amazing to see!! This movie takes you back to a time that’s now lost.

  78. Adam Weiner says:

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen “Casablanca”, and I’ve never seen it on a big screen. In recent months I’ve seen a lot of older and classic films in theaters, and I’m looking forward to watching “Casablanca” with the context of other acting performances (particularly by Bogart, Bergman, Lorre and Greenstreet) and directing decisions from films of that era. As for “Casablanca” itself, one aspect that always stays with me is the portrait – romanticized and stylized though it may be – of life during wartime, and the consequential choices and risks it demands. Of course, I also love the film’s performances and cinematography.

  79. Susan Franchi says:

“I’m shocked, shocked to see that gambling is going on in here.” “I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray, you wore blue.” “Play it, Sam. Play “As Time Goes By”. “The Marseillaise” So many quotes that stay with you, the script was brilliant, and the acting superb. So excited to see it on the big screen, it’s the ultimate “date movie”.

  80. Tricia Priebe says:

I absolutely love Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman today.

  81. Joy Bennett says:

I want to see this movie in theatres, because it’s an amazing film. I can only imagine what it’s like on the big screen! I wrote an entire chapter of my thesis on Casablanca, and went to the Warner Brothers Archives to research for it. It’s astounding the number of emigres who fled Nazi persecution that were also in this movie. It really worked as a centerpiece for my work connecting Hollywood and the Nazi UFA. The birth of Noir, the strides that these (mostly) Jewish artists made before being forced to leave their country… it was amazing. This movie shows a little bit of how it was for them.

This movie I LOve !!! Especially the dialogue between Bogart and Raines
They are rivals but they are in the fight together for a common cause -justice
All my children have seen this movie too and live it as well
It’s a fun movie night at our house simply because of the characters and their behind the scenes lives

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, great dialogue — so many iconic lines. I’m so glad that you’ve shared this movie with your children. I think many of us love classic movies because our families shared them with us – and it’s a wonderful gift. Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  83. Deborah says:

Love the music and the lines!

  84. Chuck Corsini says:

I love this movie. The pace and plot development are top notch. I’d enjoy seeing this classic in a theater surrounded by others who can appreciate it as I do.

  85. Rhonda hartley says:

It is my husband’s most favorite movie of all time. I appreciate the witty dialogue, turning even tense moments into charming interactions. Classic!!

I posting here to enter because i dont have a twitter account and cannot tweet the message. I’d have to say the theme of the movie is what makes it timeless and essential; sacrifice. Rick and ilsa had a teenage love which seemed like it’ll last forever until the truth comes out and she had to leave him. Rick was hurt and broken like any person would be. And yet, throughout his time reunited with ilsa, hes able to keep his virtue.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, I so agree, the theme is sacrifice. Never really thought of it like that! Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

Casablanca is my all time favorite movie of all times. I watch it everytime it is on Turner Clasic. I have a DVD, DVD in color, the 50th anniversary DVD, a book about Casablanca. I love Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and the entire cast in this movie. It is so good. It is one of these movies that even though it is 75 years old it is timeless. My favorite line is “here’s looking at you kid”. How I wish someone would say that to me. (and that he looks like Bogarie)…. Love love love this movie

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

It’s amazing isn’t it, that it’s 75 years old and still an amazing and moving film? Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  88. Judith Villiers says:

Resubmitting because I forgot to add that I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

What do I love most about Casablanca? The cast!! What a great team of characters they all were. From Bogart’s tough-but-vulnerable facade, to Sydney Greenstreet’s cat-that-caught-the-canary demeanor, to Peter Lore’s weirdness, Claude Raines’ understated sophistication, to Ingrid Bergman’s delicateness. You couldn’t ask for a better ensemble!

  89. Patrick M. says:

I love the atmosphere and the characters.

  90. jay says:

I love that in Casablanca, Rick is forced to chose between getting everything he has always wanted or something much bigger.

  91. NK Nushi says:

    I love everything about it.

  92. Brian Maher says:

I love that Casablanca has all the elements of a great story: espionage in an exotic locale, brilliant performances, crackerjack quotable lines, unpredictable plot twists, and repeatable viewing entertainment. It is one of the first black and white pictures I watched with my mom as a kid and I’m 47 years old now. I would love to see it on the big screen with her in a few weeks! I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Truly a classic among classics! I think it’s going to be wonderful on the Big Screen 🙂 Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck!

  93. The “Kiss is Just a A Kiss” piano scene. From seeing other TCM classics at the theater, I realize what a difference it makes seeing it on the big screen; really impacts all the senses more for an incredible experience.

  94. Teresa Dooling says:

The ending. First time watching Casablanca, I thought finally a great movie with the sad ending, a non-fairytale ending. But the more I have watched this movie, the more I realize that it is a happy ending. The characters were able to embrace the past and move forward towards a happy, productive life. To not live in the past, and to get past their bitterness. The girl gets the “perfect” guy for her. The highly unlikely “start of a beautiful friendship” between the hero and the mildly corrupt cop. And of course, the successful escape from the Nazis. Best movie ending ever.

I do not have a twitter account so I am posting here but I cannot tweet the message.

  95. Joe Garcia says:

I love this movie because it feels like a true story, of love, sacrifice and courage, all rolled up into a bottle of Gin.

  96. I have never seen Casablanca, and I feel like I’m missing out big time, seeing it on the big screen would be a dream come true

  97. Irene Potter says:

I would love to see Casablanca, one of my all time favorite films on the big screen for the first time, in part because I know I will see details in it that will make it new for me all over again. Recently, I saw Singin’ in the Rain on the big screen and picked up all kinds of details from how enhanced details to a new angle. (Yes, big movie nerd here!) What I guess I’m saying is that it will give me an opportunity to fall in love with the film all over again. Thanks for the great giveaway!
