  1. Jeanelle Kleveland says:

To see any film on a big screen is an opportunity to see a film the way it was meant to be seen. This movie has a lot of special effects and costumes. I love to see the detail that is missed when trying to view films on a TV. They are still good but so much more to see.

  2. I want to see this movie on the big screen because I saw it when I was a teen in the movies and I remember it was so magnificent in scope. I love my TV but some films just look better on a big screen. Also, my husband and I were both fans of this movie before we met each other, so it would be lovely to see it together just as if it was the 60’s all over again.

  3. Who wouldn’t want to see men in monkey suits on a giant screen?? Actually, it has been years since I’ve seen Planet of the Apes, but the last time I did watch it, I remember thinking just how wonderful it would be to see it the way it was meant to be shown. There are some excellent panoramic shots in the film and the acting was wonderful too. I’m very glad TCM chose POTA for their Big Screen series.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  4. Chris Teel says:

As a kid, Planet of the Apes was one of the films I would manage to stay up to see on the late movie. I was too young to see it at the theater with my brothers and I had to endure them talking about it until it came on tv. I would love to see it on a big screen and rub their noses in it, not that I harbor a grudge or anything.

  5. Frances Ryl says:

I would love to see Planet of the Apes on the big screen because I only ever saw movie on TV. I think the experience would be more intense.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Frances, please remember to tweet the twitter message or let me know if you don’t have twitter. Thanks!

  6. Robert Reynolds says:

I would love to see POTA on the big screen. I would droll over the movie posters at the local theater when the movie was released. The problem was you had to be accompanied by an adult to get it. I did try to con my way in to no success. Over the years , I seen in many times on broadcast, VHS and DVD and it a personal favorite,
Do I want to see it in a theater?
You bet your “damn stinkin’ dirty paws” I do !!!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

LOL, nice answer! Thanks so much for entering, and Good Luck 🙂

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Robert. Congratulations! You are one of our winners! I just emailed you for information. If you don’t get the email, please let me know asap. Thanks!

  7. Mike McCallister says:

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the classic version. It would be so cool to see it!

  8. Micky Pizarro says:

There’s nothing like the original movie – Planet of the Apes, it’s a classic. Have been watching it for years. Yes, you can stream it, yes you can own a copy, but there’s something about the big screen that makes it special. It takes me back to how I originally saw it when I was a child…on the big screen. Great memories.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Micky, I don’t see your tweet… please remember either to tweet the qualifying message, or to comment back to me that you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks so much!

  9. I want to see Planet of the Apes on the big screen so I can see just how big those filthy hands are on that “damn, dirty ape!”

  10. Russ Stover says:

I introduced my niece to classic films when she was four years old. Starting with Shirley Temple and working our way into the Three Stooges, Marx Brothers, and as she got older Jimmy Stewart and Humphrey Bogart. Now she’s leaving for college and she’s still my movie buddy. She’s introduced many of her friends to classic movies and even buying them on dvd for herself. I’ve created a monster.

  11. Kevin Shults says:

Although just young enough that I didn’t see it during its initial run in theaters, I’ve always loved this thought-provoking film and how it depicts a world evolutionarily turned upside down. Now I’m looking forward to seeing it on the big screen thanks to TCM and Fathom Events. Can’t wait to see the final scene on the beach and what the Heston character finds there. 🙂

  12. Shelia says:

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.
Because part of it was filmed right here in Fort Worth, and I would like for my son to see it. He’s 42.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Interesting. I didn’t know that parts of the movie were filmed in Fort Worth (love fun facts like that!)… Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  13. Stephenie Sasse says:

It is always wonderful to see classic movies the way they are meant to be seen. I love Charlton Heston. He is a marvelous actor and I would enjoy the opportunity to see Planet of the Apes as it was first released.
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, it’s so wonderful to see the classics on the Big Screen, especially with like-minded fans! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  14. Steven Ventura says:

Planet of the Apes made a huge impression on me as a child, as did the series as a whole. I caught a screening back in 1998 for it’s 30th anniversary, and would love to have that theater experience with my family this time! It remains in my triumvirate of favorite sci-fi movies with 2001 and Logan’s Run–any chance of a 40th anniversary Big Screen
    showing of Logan’s Run?:)

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, it left an impression on me as a kid as well! That ending! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  15. Daniel Gushard says:

Why would you like the see “Planet of the Apes” on the Big Screen?
-It’s like a big screen, feature length Twilight Zone episode, twist ending and all. Not surprising as Rod Serling wrote the original script.
-It’s a classic Charlton Heston performance with memorable quotes and the first interspecies kiss.
-Although the special effects are dated, they were groundbreaking in 1968. The Academy presented John Chambers an honorary award for outstanding makeup achievement.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

So many good reasons to see it. I haven’t seen it in ages and am looking forward to seeing it on the Big Screen as well! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  16. Brian Stumpfol says:

Who wouldn’t want to see this kick ass Classic on the big screen once again ? Me Thats who .. HELL YEA… The remake doesn’t compare to this at all and never will. Have seen every Apes movie many times.

    No twitter

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Nothing beats the original! Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Brian, Congratulations! You are one of our winners. I just emailed you for info. If you don’t get the email, please let me know asap. Thanks!

  17. Todd Neal says:

I want to see this because of those damned dirty apes!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  18. Clint K Poppe says:

I first saw Planet of the Apes as a ten-year-old wide-eyed boy. It was a cultural phenomenon! I immediately made my mother buy me a Planet of the Apes lunch box. It’s difficult to describe to anyone under the age of 55 the impact this movie had on the entire nation, and soon the entire world. I have shared this movie with my kids, my grandkids, and anyone else who will sit down and watch with me. To see it again on the big screen, would not only be a return to my youth, but would energize this soon-to-be 58 year old man!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Clint, I don’t see your tweet yet…. please either tweet the qualifying message or comment back here that you don’t have a twitter account so you can’t tweet. Then, you can be officially entered. Thanks so much!

PS: wow, that lunch box was probably awesome!!!

  19. George Gomez says:

I remember this movie as a marvel when I first viewed it. It still makes me marvel at how progressive it is.

  20. William Rigler says:

Planet of the Apes is an epic sci-fi film deserving of big screen treatment.

  21. Dussan Vukanovich says:

I would like to see “Planet of the Apes” on the big screen because the absolute best way to see films is in a movie theater with an audience. Nothing compares to the experience. So whenever there’s a chance to see a classic film on a big screen, me and my partner jump to it. I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  22. Sarah Stanzione says:

I have always wanted to see the original Planet of the Apes on the big screen. I find the theater experience more immersive and therefore well-suited to a cerebral film like this one. Also, my boyfriend has never seen it, and this would be a wonderful way to expose him to it.

Good luck to all who enter!

  23. Tom Allman says:

Planet of the Apes is not only one of the Greatest Sci-Fi movies of all times, it is one of the greatest MOVIES of all time. Unfortunately I have never seen it on the Big Screen. Please make my wish come true.

  24. Jason S says:

I’ve never seen the original Planet of the Apes and can think of no better way to see it for the first time than in a theater full of fans.

  25. Andrew Greanya says:

I love to see old movies the way they were meant to be seen, on the big screen. It would be awesome to see Charlton Heston in all his glory.

  26. Marsha says:

I would love to see this movie on the big screen. Thank you.

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  27. Helen Jo Morse says:

I want to see Planet of the Apes on the big screen because I have see it several times on tv but never the way it was MEANT to be seen!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  28. Louise Stunkard says:

I would love to be able to take my husband to a showing of Planet of the Apes as he just LOVES this movie! It’s one of his favorites but never got to see it on the big screen. This is our 20th Anniversary year and I have made special plans once each month to celebrate our life together and this would just be the best thing I could do for him. He loves the film, the special effects, and the story concept. It would be an amazing gift to be able to take him to this wonderful movie!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Louise, nice answer! But I haven’t seen your tweet yet. Please confirm that you already tweeted, or please comment back here that you don’t have a twitter account, so that you can be officially entered! Thanks 🙂

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Oh my gosh! Nevermind! I just found your tweet… I just didn’t recognize it at first. 1000 apologies 🙂 You are all good to go! Thanks for entering and Good Luck!

  29. Joe Ayres says:

I love the movie, but I was born too late to see it on a big screen. Plus, it’s playing on my birthday.

  30. Chris Teel says:

First off, thanks again to you and Fathom Events for the tickets. This turned out to essentially be a private viewing for my son and I, as we don’t have much of a film community. I’m not complaining, quite the opposite, it enabled me to tell him about all of the things in the movie that really stood out from when I saw it as a boy:
    1. The scarecrows freaked me out. Still do, sort of. Plus they are bigger than I remembered them;
    2. The rifles used by the apes appear to be much-altered WWII-era M1-carbines, a fact I was proud of figuring out as a boy;
    3. Nova was what you might call “fetching”.

My son, quite the film nerd, was able to point out the director’s use of scope and when a shot was, in his opinion, ahead of it’s time (the overhead shot of the crew climbing out the escape hatch of the space-ship, etc).

We were also able to discuss how the film managed to use so many different issues in the story, from civil rights to war to religion. The many mentions of the Lawgiver in the scrolls sounding like Moses in the Old Testament, the conflict between science and religion, Taylor’s hearing in court being reminiscent of the Dred Scott case in terms of whether the law applies to him since he’s human, and the line “don’t trust anyone over 30” uttered by Taylor, straight out of the 60’s (my son hadn’t heard this one before).

Being alone in the theater we were able to talk about all of those things without annoying anyone, and without that concern we were able to still pay attention to the film. Also, the Dr. Zaius interview before and after the film was great. I don’t know who that was, but they were funny. If you haven’t seen it, try to find it.

All in all, a really good father-son experience and again, I really appreciate it.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Thank you so much Chris for taking the time to post this review! And, I’m so glad that you were able to share the experience in this way with your son! I was able to catch the film as well, and thoroughly enjoyed it — and I have to say that the scarecrows freaked me out too!

    • Shelia says:

Chris, that was fantastic! I was very happy for your experience. It must have seemed like you were celeberties with your own Theatre Room! And as you say so many themes, issues, and even a loosely developed ‘love story’, and giving him the gorilla mask cracked me up. I am planning to grab a DVD as I was so distracted by the mechanics in trying to figure out how they got the masks to follow their speech and other costume and set designs of back in the day which were so cheesy as to be hip. Also, I’m a big horse lover and those animals were magnificent!! A great experience for us also.
Thanks Fathom for Bringing Good Things to Life!
Oops…I’d forgotten all about the male nudity! Hilarious! You don’t see that anymore…or else I’m just not getting out enough. LOL
