About the film: Paul Newman and Robert Redford set the standard for the buddy film, winner of four Academy Awards®, with this western classic. Sundance (Redford) is a mighty quick draw, and his partner Butch (Newman) is a gifted get-rich-quick schemer. With the law on their trail, the two pack their guns, and along with Sundance’s girlfriend (Katharine Ross), head for Bolivia, away from the men trying to bring them to justice – and death. Special Fathom Feature: Escape on an adventure with specially produced commentary from Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz, who will give unique insight on how these two bandits embarked on an escape of a lifetime.

IMPORTANT NOTE for all prizing: This is a special two-day-only event at select theaters nationwide on Sunday, January 17 and Wednesday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time. Winners will be responsible for their own transportation to the Event. 2. M.T. Fisher says:

Because it has some of the greatest dialogue ever.

  3. Amy condit says:

This is one of the seminal classic buddy westerns, and I’ve never seen it before, I’m embarrassed to say! The only way to see something like this is on the big screen! If I don’t win, I’m making a point to go!

  4. Louise Stunkard says:

The pairing of Newman and Redford was brilliant! They have natural, down to earth similaries of style and artistic talents. It’s a Smooth and amusing duo that turns women on, men like them for their machoness, and they can be downright funny without going over the top. Then add in the sexiness of Katherine Ross and the movie action, cool dialogue and romance makes this one of my favorite westerns without it hardly seeming like a western.

  5. Cristen Golias says:

This movie is an american classic. Seeing it on the big screen would be a wonderful experience for my husband and I.
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  6. Liz says:

I want to see Butch and Sundance on the big screen because I’ve only seen it on the small computer screen. I want to see Conrad Hall’s beautiful cinematography. I want to hear “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” through a proper sound system. I want to experience one of the best buddy pictures ever made. It’s exciting, funny, romantic, and a true American classic.

And lastly, I want to see it because I need to know once and for all… “Who ARE those guys?”

  7. Patrick McCoy says:

I would like to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on the big screen because it’s a classic!

  8. Glenda Boone says:

Rewatching the train robbing scene where Butch is pleading with Woodcock to open up the safe, Woodcock refuses and Butch has them use just a little too much dynamite. Money blows all over and Sundances response is: ” Think Ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?”

  9. Ken says:

My wife and I own this film on DVD but neither one of us have seen it on the big screen. It is showing in my town so we’ll be going, but winning a pair of tickets would be awesome. Thank you for the chance ClassicMovieHub.com

  10. Kathryn C says:

Why do I want to see “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” on the big screen?

Because it is the quintessential buddy film.
Because I want to know, “Who *are* those guys?”
Because Paul Newman and Robert Redford…. need I say more?

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Kathryn, you are one of our six winners… I sent you an email on Sunday night, and need a reply by tonight 8PM EST. If you didn’t receive the email, please let me know. Thanks!

  11. Keisha says:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is one of the first classic movies I saw, so it’d be really special for me to see it on the big screen. Alongside some memorable dialogue and terrific cinematography, the camaraderie between Paul Newman and Robert Redford is just great to watch, and pairing these two fantastic actors together is what really makes this movie a classic.

  12. Kirk Lohse says:

“Butch and Sundance” is a film that belongs in everyone’s “Desert Island 10” AND Top 100 Movies to See Before You Die. The genre is the last TRUE American Art Form and deserves to be seen on the big screen, George Roy Hill intended. Having just driven 400 miles to see Hateful 8 in 70mm, I am fortunate to have a screening of “Butch and Sundance” here in my hometown, but would gladly road trip again to see this Classic American film at the cinema!

  13. Nancy says:

I was 9 when this movie came out and I’ve only seen it on the small screen. Would love to see the beautiful cinematography on the big screen. And Redford and Newman – who wouldn’t want to see them on the big screen!! : ) Hubba Hubba!!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi, not sure if I see your tweet. Could you please let me know your handle and/or confirm if you did in fact tweet. Thanks!

  14. Ana Roland says:

I want to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”on the Big Screen because both Redford & Newman were at the height of their STAR Wattage…Both of them were DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Ana, I haven’t seen your tweet yet. Please remember to send the tweet which is part 2 of the entry task OR let me know if you don’t have a twitter account, which is fine. Thanks!

  15. Jeanne Sabol says:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid just begs to be seen on big screen!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  16. Daniel Gushard says:

I would like to see “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” on the Big Screen for two reasons:
    1. I have only seen it once and am ashamed to say that my memories are not fond. I have spent these years believing it a mediocre film. Was it the small screen VHS presentation or my youthful naivety? Since then, I have come to appreciate and love many styles of cinema. I would like to revisit this Academy Award® winning film with “new” eyes.
    2. It will be my son’s first viewing. I love the opportunity to introduce him to classic cinema on the big screen as it was intended.
Thank you TCM & Fathom Events! Thank you CMH!

I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  17. Shelia says:

Whoa! It was such a rockin’ movie with a stunning ending. Two cute guys…what’s not to like???

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Sheila, this particular contest is over… but stay tuned because we give away classic movie tickets every month courtesy of Fathom Events 🙂
