  1. Kerry says:

My favorite John Wayne movie is THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER. It has a great supporting cast and story.

  2. Caroline says:

My favorite has always been Hellfighters. Just something about that movie that grabbed my attention. Even though it wasn’t a “western”, it still had that feel to it. Was a fantastic story and based on a real person Fred Adair (not sure of spelling). Found out my sisters adoptive Dad worked for the gentleman in the oil fields years ago.
Have seen it several times and don’t ever get tired of watching it.

  3. Ashley Hinz says:

Donovan’s Reef. He seems so at ease in it, and it is probably the funniest that he ever did. It was the first John Wayne movie that I can actually remember seeing.

  4. Brandon Powell says:

My favorite John Wayne film is probably “The Cowboys.” If I were to choose an earlier film, it would be “Red River.”

  5. RANDI COOK says:

McLintock because his son appears in that one and its a great movie just like all of them are!

  6. Libby says:

If I had to pick only ONE John Wayne movie? It would be Rio Bravo because it is the movie my Dad and I always sit down and watch together when it turns up on television. I think he’s glad he has a young kid who loves the movies of his generation as much as he does. We are all dedicated fans to Dean Martin, and when he sings, “Purple Eyes,” everybody makes sure they’re quiet so all can hear it from all the rooms in the house. Great film, great music, great cast, great memories!

  7. Libby says:

Haha, I meant “Purple Light,” As a kid I used to think he was singing, “Purple Eyes,” but know better now, haha!

  8. Jean Spradlin-Miller says:

So many to choose from . . . “The Quiet Man,” “Stagecoach” . . . Bu I have to say that “The Searchers” is my favorite. Wayne was finally able to show all the doubting critics what a true talent he was as an actor. He was never better!

  9. Luis says:

My favorite John Wayne movie is ‘The Quiet Man’. A moving, very believable performance by one of America’s favorite icons.

  10. Patricia says:

My favorite is Stagecoach, seeing Ringo Kid standing there With his rife & Saddle what a gorgeous man

  11. Rhonda Lynn Wise says:

My favorite John Wayne movie is “El Dorado”. That was the first movie I ever saw at the theater and I loved the story and rivalry between John Wayne and Robert Mitchum’s characters. It was just a great movie and had humor and was a good old fashioned western romp.
