I love Spaced Invaders…. i saw it as a kid and it has always been a cool movie to me. A wee bit sci-fi a wee bit comedy and some action tossed in. It is a fun little movie.

  2. Sara Stewart says:

I love most of the classics, but The Day the Earth Stood Still, had such an important message and I really wish people had listened, the world would definitely be a better place. For “newer” classics…Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, one of the BEST Star Trek movies.

  3. Rabbi Joseph Kolakowski says:

It is so hard to pick one – one of my favorites as a kid was “Killers from Space” (1954) with Peter Graves. Loved the bug eyed aliens and giant bugs and lizards.

  4. “Them” from 1954; just a great old B-style, fun movie with a very young James Arness

  5. Chris Teel says:

War of the Worlds, the newer version with Tom Cruise. I love older films more than newer ones in general, but this one had so much tension and horror it became a favorite. When I think of it I instantly hear that god awful metallic screeching.

  6. stella weng says:

“Invasion of the Body Snatchers” scared me awake. Still hear Kevin McCarthy trying to warn the indifferent drivers!

Good one! Just wanted to let you know that I don’t see your tweet. Could you please confirm that you tweeted, and/or let me know if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks!

  7. Shemp DeYoung says:

I am a big fan of the movie Logan’s Run. Such an interesting movie.
I also can’t get enough of the original Planet of the Apes franchise. I have had them on VHS, DVD, and now Blu-Ray. I even have the TV series and the Animated Series.

  8. “The Day The Earth Stood Still” rarely does fiction and sociopolitical reality intersect so neatly.

  9. One of my all-time favorites is Forbidden Planet. I watched it so many times over the years, since I was a kid in Brooklyn, New York. I used to watched growing up in the70’s and discussed it with my friends in school. Since I did not have a color tv, I used to ask my friends, what color was the sky of Altair IV, color of the id monster, the color of the spaceship C57D, etc. I loved the eerie space sounds and wanted a Robbie the Robot action figure…..they were expensive at the time….my dad did not make much money…..but I drew a lot of Robbie and other robots. I was also fascinated about spaceships reaching light speed and, eventually….. “greatly surpassed” this speed. Among other movie Classics are Gojira(Godzilla), Rocketship X-M, The Day the Earth Stood Still, This Island Earth, Angry Red Planet, When Worlds Collide, It Came From Outer Space, It! The Terror from Beyond Space, The Land Unknown, It Conquered the World, Them!, GOG, of course and thousands too many to mention. I am glad they restored “GOG”. It would be fantastic to see this classic movie, especially in Blue-Ray format!!!!

  10. James Kinman-Wygal says:

“The Day The Earth Stood Still” is my all time favorite. As others have mentioned, the message of the film itself disguised in the McCarthy era spoke so much about what should really be important to all.
