  1. Julie Moon says:

Classic movies have the most amazing actors and actresses, the directing is always incredible and the music is memorable. They can bring all the emotions out of me!

  2. Gloria Elizabeth says:

I love classic movies for the strength of the storytelling, the visual aesthetics (from the beauty of its black and white beginnings to the color-saturated technologies of the fifties), and for its ability to transport me back through my life, as I remember when I first saw them, or discover the context in which they were made.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I sooooo understand, and I love how they bring back such special memories 🙂 Thanks for entering and Good Luck!

  3. Tim Haxton says:

I would love to win under Capricorn! I’m a big fan of Hitchcock! I have not seen this one yet! Hope I win!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Hi Tim, Thanks for entering — but just realized that you answered the twitter question here, so want to ensure your entry is ‘official’… the question for this entry is “What do you love most about classic movies” 🙂

  4. Bob Stein says:

Classic movies were powered by the studio system, and through strenuous work unknowns were groomed to bring out whatever talents lay within them. For those who were willing to work hard it worked and gave movie audiences a record of performances that will last for all time.

  5. Luis Velez says:

I love classic movies because when played, they bring us bits from the past that would be impossible to experience otherwise. A sense of quality, sweet nostalgia for places and ways we never knew before. Oh, and a certain innocence, abiding by Howard Hawks’ idea of a good movie: “Three great scenes; no bad scenes.”.

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

I so agree… love that nostalgia and that ‘certain’ innocence… Thanks so much for entering 🙂 and Good Luck!

  6. Cole Woolley says:

I would like to win The Woman in the Window or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. My family has seen The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and we love it! I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.

  7. Vickie L Gleason says:

As much as I love Walter Brennan and Tom Sawyer, I would have to say Under Cappricorn would also be fabulous. I love Ingrid and Joseph and Hitchcock. This is a tough choice!

  8. Vickie L Gleason says:

What I love most about classic movies is being transported back in time and feeling I’m there in what ever setting. It doesn’t have all the computerized effects of today but total real acting. So many scenes the face says it all without words!!

  9. David Hollingsworth says:

I love the way classic movies have amazing stories with amazing characters. They’re much more accessible and entertaining than films now. The stars in films, such as Better Davis, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Ginger Rogers, Bogart, Bacall, and Garbo are also more talented, instantly watchable, and as iconic than those of today. These were/are the real films.

  10. Richard Rommeney says:

I love watching classic movies because they bring me to a time long gone…

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

Yes, they certainly do… it’s such a wonderful escape… Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂

  11. Stuart Cook says:

Classic movies are the products of genuine talents of the industry’s great directors, producers and actors. Many (pre-1950 producstion) were shot on beautifully textured nitrate film stock which has its own wonderfully unique look.

  12. What I love most about classic movies is the time capsule feel and seeing true talent- the 20th century had talent- and I’d say today it’s much more fake. It’s so hard to watch today’s movies compared to “the classics”, the story telling is gone by the wayside to make way for visual effects and fake actors! LONG live the classics!

  13. Javier Valverde says:

What I love most about classic movies is the style that they were filmed. They were very precise with their cinematography, dialogue and direction. Also what I love most about classic movies are the actors and actresses like Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Audrey Hepburn and Deborah Kerr.

  14. I love that classic films are a window into history. Every film is in some way a documentary— exposing the audience to architecture, modes of dress, outdated technology, hairstyles, cultural touchstones, and popular phrases that have since gone away.

  15. Daniel G. says:

I love that “classic” movies take their time developing characters and revealing plot details. I love that they show the audience information to tell a story versus using exposition. I love that they have an average shot length greater than 5 seconds, much greater. I love that they treat the viewer as an intelligent, feeling human being who wants to be entertained by an intelligent, feeling movie.

  16. Dani says:

This…is such an unfair question! How can one even answer this without going off on a semester long tangent? What is there not to love? (Actually, don’t respond to that, because there are a few things – looking at you movie studio system of ‘owning’ actors) The one thing I love most about classic films? Selection. You can pick any genre, and there is a perfect film right there waiting for you. Want a thriller? Hitchcock has you covered with Cary Grant and a plane chasing him through a field. Want a western? Hello Gary Cooper as a Sheriff in High Noon, ready to face his fate. Romance? Try not to get emotional when Ingrid and Bogart say goodbye in Casablanca. Action? Adventure? Sci Fi? Comedy? Horror? The list goes on and on. But, no matter what, there’s something for everyone.
