Carole Lombard: The Profane Angel Blogathon – Lombard and Gable Pictorial

In Celebration of the Lovely Carole Lombard, a Behind-the-Scenes Pictorial of ‘Ma’ and ‘Pa’…

As many of us classic movie fans know, Carole Lombard and Clark Gable met in 1932 while co-starring in No Man of Her Own.  At that time, Lombard was married to William Powell, and there were no sparks flying on the set between her and Gable. The pair however met again at a party in 1935, at which time Lombard was divorced from Powell, and Gable was separated from his wife – and a romance blossomed. After a lengthly and expensive divorce, Gable was free to marry soulmate, Lombard, and the couple wed on March 29, 1939. The couple bought a 20-acre ranch in Encino, California, where they enjoyed the ‘simple life’ together, far different than their Hollywood Socialite lives… They nicknamed each other ‘Ma’ and ‘Pa’ and remained happily married until Lombard’s tragic death on January 16, 1942 at age 33.

So in honor of their very special relationship, let’s celebrate the ‘simple life’ with Lombard and Gable via this pictorial…

I love looking at photos of these two ❤️

  4. What a gorgeous couple. Does a bad photo of them even exist?

They say Carole’s death really aged Gable. I’m sure his experiences in WWII didn’t help, either, but he does appear to be much older in the mid 1940s than he was just a few years earlier.

This is a wonderful tribute to both Gable and Lombard.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read… Truly tragic ending, but at least they enjoyed their time together… they just looked so wonderfully happy together…
