British actress who should have gone to Hollywood, where frowzy blondes of the type she portrayed so expertly were much more in demand. As it was, she stayed in the British cinema (and theatre) and had to be content with a couple of decent film roles in the early 1950s. Began as a child entertainer, singer, and clog dancer, making a few silent films as a leading lady before coming back to sound films in her late thirties.
