Fast-talking, aggressive American actor, built like a little tank. After war service, he became a nightclub singer, then mixed comedy with the singing. Became a well-known film face as the serviceman who has his swear-words "fluffed out" on the soundtrack in Don't Go Near the Water. Disappeared into television after 1970. Died from lung cancer.
