Head of jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1964

Biography in: John Wakeman, editor. "World Film Directors, Volume One, 1890-1945". Pages 723-731. New York: The H.W. Wilson Company, 1987.

In the late 1930s Mann, who was a stage director, was hired by David O. Selznick, who put him to work as a talent scout and casting director. In that capacity Mann directed screen tests for several of Selznick's films, including Gone with the Wind (1939) and Rebecca (1940).
