Allen Jenkins Overview:

Character actor, Allen Jenkins, was born Alfred McGonegal on Apr 9, 1900 in Staten Island, NY. Jenkins died at the age of 74 on Jul 20, 1974 in Santa Monica, CA .

Allen Jenkins' 'mug' might have come straight from a Damon Runyan story - and proved to be his fortune. In the 1930s and 1940s, with a matchstick often dangling from his drooping lower lip, Jenkins was ever ready with a leering remark and played dozens of dim-witted but by-and-large friendly penny-ante crooks and ne'er-do-wells. Largely retired after 1957, he still played a few cameo roles in his last years. He died from complications following surgery.
