Marsha Hunt Quotes:

Joseph Emmett Sullivan: What do you know about anything? You probably had your bread buttered on both sides since the day you were born. Safe. Safe on first, second, third, and home.
Ann Martin: *That's* what you think! Just because I own a car and a tailored suit and my nails are clean, you think I've never had to fight? I got an education, sure. I suppose that means I was born with a silver spoon, doesn't it? My father was a schooltecher. He died in the war of The Depression. Only he didn't get any medals. Or any bands. Or any bonus. He left three children. You think *you* had to fight? The only way you know how to fight is that stupid way with a gun. Well, there's another way you probably never even heard of. It's the daily fight that everyone has. To get food and an education, to land a job and keep it. And some self-respect. 'Safe'? I never asked for anything safe. All I want is... just a little decency, that's all!

Katie Mallory: [makes a face at Alpha]
Alpha: [gasps]
Mike Regan: Katie behave yourself! Do you want her to think you're unintelligent?
Katie Mallory: I have to watch my I.Q. when I'm around her?
Alpha: Do you have a high intelligence quotient?
Katie Mallory: No. I'm a middle grade moron.

Martha Gray, Elliott's Secretary: I just remembered, I have an appointment with a headache.

Marsha Hunt Facts
Talks about her blacklisting, and the horror movie Back from the Dead (1957), in the book "A Sci-Fi Swarm and Horror Horde" (McFarland, 2010) by Tom Weaver.

Marsha was a strong consideration for the role of Melanie in Gone with the Wind (1939), since the studio's first pick, Olivia de Havilland, was having trouble being loaned out by Warner Bros. In fact, David O. Selznick selected Marsha to play the role at one point but the following day the loanout worked itself out and Olivia was handed the part.

Her only child, a daughter, was born prematurely on July 1, 1947, and died a day later. She and her second husband later became foster parents.
