Buoyant, witty, blonde American actress with lived-in charm and long, pencilled eyebrows. Many cinemagoers' favorite wisecracking woman-of-the-world from Hollywood films of the 1930s, she is perhaps most fondly recalled as the intrepid girl reporter Torchy Blane.
