Stander appeared in over 125 film and TV roles, most famously as Cornelius Cobb in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Matt Libby in A Star Is Born (1937) - and on TV as Max on Hart to Hart (1979-1984). Stander died at the age of 86 on Nov 30, 1994 in Los Angeles, CA and was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Glendale) Cemetery in Glendale, CA.

Lionel Stander was much in demand for roles as comic gangsters and other side-of-the-mouth types before the McCarthy blacklist halted his career in 1948, After a brief stint as a Wall Street broker, he played many character roles in Britain and Italy before going back to Hollywood and finding a secure slot with the five-season-long television series Hart to Hart.
