Delicate, poised, blonde beauty resident firstly at Universal, then Fox throughout the thirties. Remembered best as the frightened heroine of The Old Dark House, she later became active in Screen Actors' Guild work and in the art world. Made a surprising comeback to acting in the mid-seventies. Also an exhibited painter. Academy Award nominee (the oldest on record) for Titanic.
