Gilbert Emery Overview:

Character actor, Gilbert Emery, was born Gilbert Emery Bensley Pottle on Jun 11, 1875 in Naples, NY. Emery died at the age of 70 on Oct 28, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA .

MINI BIO:

American-born, British-raised, well-travelled, very tall actor of shamblingly aristocratic bearing. He acted all over the world before settling in Hollywood with the coming of sound, where (between taking a sabbatical for stage work in 1932 and 1933) he quickly established himself as craggy figures of authority. His juiciest role came with third billing (as Winslow, Mae West's business manager) in Goin' to Town. Although it seems fairly certain that the Australian and American silents listed below are his work and not that of another acting Gilbert Emery (1882-1934), they are included only in square brackets. He also wrote screenplays.
