MINI BIO:
Light-haired American actress with slightly haunted look. Texas-born Doran never built up the cult following of some character players and remained, for almost 50 years, one of the most anonymous supporting people on the Hollywood scene. Often seen as a secretary, friend of the heroine, worried wife, or simply frightened female, her leading roles were largely confined to a fistful of two-reel comedies at Columbia. As the epitome of the working woman or average American wife, it wasn't surprising that she appeared in several Frank Capra films of the 1930s and 1940s. He remained her favorite director. Acting since childhood, she clocked up scores of films plus hundreds of appearances on TV. Perhaps best recalled as James Dean's mother in Rebel Without a Cause.
