Flamboyant, dark-haired Mexican-born actor, who played Indians and scowling Dago bad guys until his second Oscar, for Lust for Life (the first was for Viva Zapata!), thereafter he lived that title to the hilt playing any number of earth-loving characters of widely varying nationalities. Married (first of three) to actress Katherine DeMille (K. Lester 1911-1995) from 1937 to 1965. Additional Oscar nominations for Wild Is the Wind and Zorba the Greek. Had eight children (one passed). Anthony Quinn was nominated for four Academy Awards, winning two for Best Supporting Actor for Viva Zapata! (as Eufemio Zapata) and Lust for Life (as Paul Gauguin) in 1952 and 1956 respectively.
